These product terms apply to MartensLink Events (“Events”), the add-on for Google Sheets. They form part of our Terms of Service and apply together with them. Words such as “Service” and “Your Content” mean the same as there.
These product terms apply to you from the moment you install, open, use or buy Events. If they and the Terms of Service say different things about Events, these product terms apply.
1. Summary in plain words
This summary does not replace the full terms below.
- Events is a tool. You run your event, decide how your data is handled, and own your relationship with your participants.
- Your data stays in your own Google account and, if you use payments, in your own Stripe account. We do not receive or store your participants’ data.
- You can try Events for free. Pro is a subscription that belongs to your Google account. It renews automatically until you cancel it, and cancelling takes effect from the next period.
- You get a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first Pro purchase and on yearly renewals. See our Refund Policy.
- We work hard to make Events reliable, but we cannot promise that it will never fail. Check important things yourself, especially payments and emails.
2. What Events is
Events is an add-on for Google Sheets. It helps you build Google Forms for registration, take payment through your own Stripe account, place participants in groups and sessions, and email schedules and messages from your own Google account. The features available at any time are described on our website and in the add-on.
Events runs inside your Google account under Google’s terms. We do not operate a server that stores your event data.
3. Free and Pro
3.1 The free tier
Events has a free tier with limits, for example a maximum number of participants and leaders per event, and a paid tier (“Pro”) without those limits. The current limits and prices are shown on our website.
We may change what the free tier includes. If a change reduces what you can do with an event you have already started, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice in the add-on or on our website.
3.2 Pro belongs to your Google account
Pro is linked to the Google account you use Events with. Google confirms which account it is, both in the add-on and when you buy on our website. Pro applies in every spreadsheet where you use Events with that account.
Someone else, for example a treasurer, can pay for your Pro with the payment link you create in Events. Pro is then linked to your account, whoever pays.
Pro cannot be moved between accounts in the add-on. If you need to move Pro to another Google account, our support will help you.
3.3 Cancelling
In addition to the ways set out in the Terms of Service, you can cancel Pro in Events under ⚙ → Pro → Manage subscription.
4. Your Google account and your Stripe account
Events depends on Google Workspace (Sheets, Forms, Gmail and Apps Script) and, if you take payments, on Stripe. Their terms govern your use of them. We are not responsible for their limits, changes, fees or decisions, for example Google’s daily limit on how many people you can email, or Stripe holding or reversing a payment.
If you connect Stripe, you do so with your own Stripe account and your own restricted API key. Payments from your participants go directly to your Stripe account. MartensLink never holds, receives or handles that money, and is not a party to any transaction between you and your participants.
5. Your participants’ data
5.1 You are the controller
What you and your participants enter through Events, such as forms, answers, spreadsheets, texts, schedules, prices and emails, is Your Content.
When you collect personal data about participants, you decide what is collected and why. Under data protection law, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you are the controller of that data. You are responsible for:
- having a lawful basis for collecting and using the data, and for informing participants, for example through a privacy notice in your form;
- getting consent from a parent or guardian where the law requires it, for example for children;
- the content you send to participants, including that it is lawful and that recipients may be contacted;
- your agreements with Google and Stripe, which process the data on your behalf under their own terms;
- answering participants’ requests about their data.
Events contains tools that help with this, for example a terms block and a privacy text in your form, and texts we suggest. These are aids, not legal advice. You decide whether they are suitable for your event.
5.2 We do not receive your participants’ data
Events runs in your Google account, and Your Content stays in your Google account and, if you use payments, in your Stripe account. MartensLink does not receive, store or have access to it. We are therefore not a processor of your participants’ data. Our Privacy Policy for Events describes exactly what the add-on does with data.
If you share data with us when you ask for help, section 12 of the Terms of Service applies.
6. Where your data is
Your data is stored by Google, and by Stripe if you use payments. We do not keep backups of it. Keep your own copies of anything important, and do not delete the hidden tabs that Events creates in your spreadsheet, because they record which emails have been sent and which payments have been received.
7. Your responsibility for your event
Events helps with administration, but you remain responsible for your event. Before you rely on Events, you should check in particular that:
- prices, discounts, VAT and the amounts that participants are asked to pay are correct;
- payments that are marked as paid have actually reached your Stripe account;
- schedules, groups, capacities and waitlists are correct before you send them;
- emails have reached participants, especially important information such as times and places;
- your form, terms and privacy texts are suitable for your event and comply with the law.
Emails that Events sends are sent from your Google account and count against Google’s limits on how many people you may email.
8. When you stop using Events
You can uninstall Events at any time. Nothing in your spreadsheets or forms is deleted by doing so. Sections 5 and 7 continue to apply to the events you have run with Events.
